She is very plain in the daylight,
Kinder freckled with reddish hair;
But beneath the moon at night
She's the fairest of the fair.

By day deep lines show 'round her eyes
She's a bit paler than should be;
But when the moon sails o'er the skies
She's a nymph who gladdens me.

Her voice, low, sweet, like chiming bells
Rings out on the cool night air;
A Fairy Witch with witchery spells -
The Moonlight has made her fair.

So I've come to know her as the Moon Girl,
Seeing daylight would shatter for awe
My Idol, born of the moon and stars,
My love of the Milky Way.
